LINCOLNTON––Are you one of the more than 30 million Americans with diabetes?
If so, you may want to attend an upcoming six-week self-management workshop at the Lincoln County Senior Center. According to Lincoln County Senior Services spokeswoman Darlene Stroupe, the free workshop starts Feb. 25 and runs through March 31. It will be held on Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m.-noon, at the senior center.
And Stroupe said Thursday that the workshop is designed to “help you take control of your diabetes, rather than letting it control you!”
There’s a lot of important information to be had, Stroupe added, from which diabetics can benefit.
“You will learn how to manage your symptoms,” she said, “fight fatigue and pain, develop weekly action plans, make healthy food choices, keep your blood sugar in check and get more out of life.”
Presented by the Centralina Area Agency on Aging, the workshop will show you that while you may diabetes, it doesn’t have you.
To register, call Stroupe at the senior center at (704) 732-9053. Those interesting in attending should call her as soon as possible, she emphasized, as space is limited.
The Lincoln County Senior Center is now situated in its new location at 612 Center Drive in Lincolnton.
