Fifth Third Bank celebrated Fifth Third Day on Monday (May 3rd) and kicked off a month of activities and donations to local organizations. On Monday, Fifth Third Bank presented a check for $5,300 to Christian Ministry of Lincoln County to help with their programs to help feed the poor in Lincoln County. NASCAR driver Chris Buescher, who drives the #17 Fifth Third Bank Ford Mustang in the NASCAR Cup Series, was on hand for the check presentation at the Lincolnton branch location.

Fifth Third Bank has committed to fight hunger by providing a million meals in the communities it serves. During the first months of the pandemic, roughly four in 10 people who visited food banks were seeking help for the first time. Today, food banks are routinely serving over 55% more people than before the pandemic began.

The decision to present a check to Christian Ministry grew out of Fifth Third's involvement with Lincoln Charter School's backpack program that provides food to children to take home. Christian Ministry will supply food for the Charter School effort using the funds they were presented. Mitzi Williams, Executive Director told us, "we're very happy this will help us to expand our efforts to feed the hungry in Lincoln County." Williams also commented on the Ministry LINC Meals program: "The Amazing Parade raised about $6,000 and we've now received another $1,000 from other contributions, but we still need another thousand dollars to maintain that program. Any contributions will be much appreciated."
