There were cookouts and picnics and some spent the day boating on the lake, but a small crowd gathered on the Courtsquare Monday afternoon to say 'thank you' to fallen Lincoln Countians who served their country in our military.
While the gathering was small, it was still more than had been a part of Memorial Day observances in recent years.
Sheriff Bill Beam quoted Abraham Lincoln in his brief remarks, and veterans from the various branches of the military placed wreaths in front of the memorials on the square.
Monday's observance followed a prelude memorial service Sunday evening at the VFW.
The LincolnHerald is Lincoln County's only daily source of local news, sports, obituaries and more. Unlike newspapers which print only on certain days and radio stations that only repeat stories that have already been printed, we are here every day of the year with the information you need and want to know.
