Are Medicare costs hard for you to swallow?
Then let the Lincoln County Senior Center and the Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (or SHIIP) help you out. According to senior spokeswoman Lauren Heavner, the SHIIP can help you find the best Medicare prescription drug plan for you, as well as show you what’s new for 2022.
This week, Heavner, who is also the senior center’s SHIIP counsellor, said that the organization offers free, unbiased information about Medicare, and its staffers can assist you with enrollment and subsidy applications that could save you a lot of money.
She continued that the open enrollment period for Medicare starts soon, beginning Oct. 15. It runs through Dec. 7. The changes will take effect Jan. 1, so get ready now.
North Carolina’s SHIIP program has a rating of “excellent.” You may learn more by calling the Raleigh office at its toll-free number at (855) 408-1212, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
And Heavner urges you to call the senior center now to schedule an appointment and learn more about how Medicare and the SHIIP can help you. That local number is (704) 732-9053.
Lincoln County Senior Services is located at 612 Center Drive in Lincolnton.
