Notice Of May 17, 2022 Primary Election For Lincoln County, NC

Notice is hereby given that pursuant to G.S. 163-33(8) that a Primary Election will be held in Lincoln County on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 for Federal, State, Judicial and County. All qualified registered voters are eligible to vote in this election. The polls will be open for voting on that day from 6:30 AM to 7:30 PM. All voters that are eligible to participate in the Republican or Democratic primary will be voting for the following offices:

  • US Senate
  • US House of Representatives District 10
  • NC Supreme Court Associate Judge Seat 5
  • NC Court of Appeals Judge Seat 9
  • NC Court of Appeals Judge Seat 11
  • County Commissioner (2 seats)
  • Board of Education At-Large
  • Board of Education District 2
  • Board of Education District 5
  • Sheriff

Democratic:

  • US Senate
  • US House of Representatives District 10
  • Board of Education Atl-Large

Residents of Lincoln County who are registered to vote with the Democrat or Republican parties or Unaffiliated voters are the only voters eligible to vote in this Primary. Voters who are already registered do not have to re-register to vote in this election. Residents of the county who are not already registered to vote should register by Friday, April 22nd, 2022 to be eligible to vote in this election. A person may register to vote at the Lincoln County Board of Election office at 451 Salem Church Road, Lincolnton, North Carolina between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Any voter who has moved outside his or her precinct but within the county since the last election should notify the board of elections in writing by Friday, April 22nd, 2022. Those voters who are not registered by Friday, April 22nd, 2022 may register and vote during one stop early voting only, and will be required to provide documentation of their identity and residence. Voter Registration forms are also available on the Lincoln County website at www.lincolncounty.org  or the State Board of Elections website at www.ncsbe.gov and can be mailed to the Board of Elections Office at the address listed above.

Voters who require assistance with casting their ballot are entitled to assistance by an appropriate person of their choice or an election official. Registration facilities and polling places are accessible to the elderly and handicapped. Curbside voting is available for voters who are not physically able to enter the polling place.

Any qualified voter may vote absentee by mail. Beginning Monday, March 28th, 2022, requests for an absentee ballot must be made in person or on approved state form to the Lincoln County Board of Elections. Copies of the state form can be picked up at the Board of Election office or printed off the Lincoln County website at www.lincolncounty.org. The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot by mail is 5:00 PM Tuesday, May 10th, 2022. Ballots must be returned to the Board of Elections by May 17th, 2022 at 5:00 PM OR be postmarked by May 17th, 2022 and received by mail no later than 5:00 PM on May 20th, 2022. The Board of Elections will meet in its office at 451 Salem Church Road on the following dates and times and other times as may be necessary for the purpose of approving absentee ballot applications:

Thursday, May 26th, 2022 at 5:00 PM Absentee Supplemental / Provisionals

Canvass will be held Friday, May 27th, 2022 starting at 11:00 AM in the Board of Elections Office in Lincolnton, North Carolina.
