Empty the Shelters

Animal shelters across the country are overcrowded. To help find homes for shelter animals, more than 275 participating shelters are participating in an “Empty the Shelters” event.

Gaston County's shelter at 1491 Business Park Court (just south of Interstate 85 in Gastonia) is one involved in this lifesaving event.

In previous years, this effort has helped more than 83,000 pets find homes throughout the country. During
this event, Gaston County's shelter will off reduced adoption fees: $10 for cats/kittens; $15 for dogs/puppies.

The Gaston County shelter is open Monday-Friday 11am-5pm and Saturday 11am-2pm.

Those adopting animals must be pre-approved to adopt. Applications can be completed online or in person at the Gaston County Animal Shelter.
