We had several entries of snowmen who looked like Olaf from the movie "Frozen," but this one was the one that got the most votes of any of those and finished second overall--still far ahead of #3.

It wasn't close. Entry #5 was a runaway winner in the voting in our Snowman Contest. Readers and Facebook friends could vote by "liking" an entry on Facebook, posting a Facebook comment choosing an entry, or by sending us an email telling us their choice. We made the contest wide open: you could vote more than once or for more than one entry. Many of our readers voted for several of the entries.
Some of the entries were basic snowmen like we've seen for years. There were several snowmen like the character Olaf from the movie "Frozen." Perhaps the most artistic entry was a snow camel, but it didn't do well enough to crack the top five in voting.
As a prize, we promised dinner for two at Red Fish Grill on North Generals Blvd. in Lincolnton and $25. We'll make arrangements to get that prize to the winner next week.
We didn't promise any other prizes, but we were so impressed by the entries we received that we decided to give a $10 gift certificate to each of the next four entries in the voting. We'll also be contacting those who submitted those entries.
We appreciate all of those who entered the contest and who voted for their choices. Perhaps we'll do some similar contest later this year--but hopefully, not a snowman contest. We think we've had enough of Winter. Now we're ready for Spring, the Art Crawl, flowers and warmer weather fun.
