LaRhonda Carlton belted out a gospel song to claim the title of Lincoln Idol 2015. This Saturday night, the 2016 winner will be decided at the Lincoln Cultural Center.
The semi-finals were held Friday night in front of a big audience in the Timken Performance Hall. Saturday's finals will begin at 7 PM. Admission to the event is $10, children under four get in for $5.
A total of $3,200 in prizes will be awarded at the event. In addition to Carlton, last year's winners included Valerie Cochrane, second place and Matt Ingle, third. In the Instagram competition where competitors submitted a 15-second short excerpt from a song and the winner was decided by votes from callers, Camryn Wilson was the winner.
Lincoln Cultural Center is located at 403 East Main Street in Lincolnton.
