You've seen them in town before. They visited the Lincolnton Fire Department earlier in the year. Pink Heals is a national organization made up largely of firefighters, police, emergency medical workers and their families.

The Foothills Chapter president, Allyson Sigmon, told the Lincoln Herald their mission is to provide encouragement and hope for those who need it.

"A lot of what we do is for families," she said, "trying to engage the community in the healing process and letting them know they are not alone."

On Saturday (Dec. 23rd) the pink firetruck was in Lincolnton for a visit with a family here. The father in that family is himself an EMS worker. Their 6-month-old child has Down Syndrome.

"We decided for Christmas we'd visit a family in each of our six counties that make up our district," Sigmon told us. "Santa rode the firetruck, too." As always, the person chosen for their visit is asked to sign the truck. "We want them to know that they have us and others in the community to support them."

Local police, EMS, and fire departments are asked to help form the convoy that makes the trip to the home.

Lincoln County Commissioner Anita McCall joined the Saturday procession. "They do a wonderful job," she said. "I was happy to be asked to participate."

This is the most amazing group of caring people that I have ever met. Was a miracle what they did for this family. I cannot thank them enough for the hope and joy they brought to these boys and their father. Was such a surprise for this Dad, as well as his family! They are an amazing group, and what they do is all the work of God!!!! Thank you Pink Heals for your time and caring for this family!
