Weekend Events

Wayne Howard
Staff Writer

By now you're surely aware that the Lincoln County Apple Festival has been rescheduled because of the impending storm and will now be held the last Saturday in October (Oct. 27th).  The High School Marching Band Preview that had been scheduled for Saturday night at LHS Stadium was also cancelled; but there are many activities in our area that unless we have a big problem with the storm will go on as scheduled.  The Library Book Sale at the Citizens Center was called off Friday afternoon--so they will NOT be there on Saturday.  In fact, Lincoln County public libraries will be closed for the weekend.  Lincolnton's Betty Ross Park and the Lentz Recreation Center will also be closed. The Que Chevere Spanish Festival  in Shelby has been postponed.  The appearance by Dr. Karen Cox to talk about her book "Goat Castle: A True Story of Murder, Race & the Gothic South" at the Mundy House in Denver has also been cancelled; but some events will go on as scheduled unless things get much worse.
