We know that there's still Veterans Day and Thanksgiving before we get deep into the Christmas season, but the truth is that the season has already begun. Most stores have their Christmas merchandise on display and many people have begun their Christmas gift shopping.

The Lincoln Herald will, as we have in the past, keep you informed about the many Holiday events happening in our area. This weekend, in addition to the Veterans Day celebration including a parade on Saturday and a cruise-in on Sunday, the Downtown Development Association is sponsoring a Culture Crawl Friday night and a Christmas Open House at local stores on Saturday.

The first of the area's Christmas parades is a week from this Friday--on November 16th--when Hickory holds its night-time Christmas parade. The parade has a new route this year--it will begin at the intersection of 4th Street NW and 1st Avenue NW at 6 PM next Friday. It will be followed by the tree lighting with Santa and Mrs. Claus on Union Square.

Maiden's Christmas parade will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 24th) and the Lincolnton Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting will be Sunday November 25th. If you want to have an entry in the parade, you have only until next Thursday (November 15th) to sign up. CLICK HERE for more details.

Stanley will have its tree lighting on Main Street across from the Brevard Place Museum at 5:30 PM on Sunday November 25th. The Stanley Christmas parade will be December 12th at 3 PM.

Mt. Holly's Christmas parade will be Wednesday November 28th and will be followed by the tree lighting.

The East Lincoln Betterment Association will hold the Denver Christmas parade on Highway 16-Business on Saturday December 1st at 12:15 PM.

That same day, Crouse will have its Christmas parade at 1 PM followed by a tree lighting, and Kings Mountain will have its parade at 3 PM. Following the parade there, visitors are invited to Patriots Park in downtown Kings Mountain for an evening of Christmas music, dance and other activities.

Gastonia's parade this year will be on Sunday December 2nd at 4 PM. The Gaston Symphonic Orchestra will perform Christmas music at the Rotary Pavilion after the parade.

Belmont will have its Christmas tree lighting at 5:30 PM Monday December 3rd across from city hall. The Belmont parade will be Tuesday Dec. 4th at 3 PM.

Conover won't have a parade, but will hold its annual Christmas in the Park event Tuesday, December 4th at 5:30 PM at the Downtown Park in Conover.

Bessemer City's parade will be at 5 PM Friday Dec. 7th followed by Christmas in the City with music and other entertainment, food, rides, etc.

Cherryville's Christmas parade will be at 10:30 AM Saturday Dec. 8th. Cherryville's A Very Cherry Who-Ville Christmas on Main will be Friday December 14th 5 - 9 PM.

The Cat Square parade will be at 1 PM Saturday December 8th.

Dallas will have its parade on Friday Dec. 14th at 4 PM.

Lowell will hold its Light Up Lowell Christmas Parade & Festival Saturday Dec. 15th at 2 PM, and Shelby's parade will be Sunday Dec. 16th at 3 PM.

These are not all of the parades in our area; we'll detail others in a later article and give you more information about other Holiday events.
