CROUSE, N.C. - Like it or not, it rained on the annual Crouse Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 1.  But the community of Crouse wasn’t going to let a little bad weather ruin their fun.

The rain had been predicted and the parade had been scheduled “rain or shine” so they hoped for the best and made the best of what they got.

Some entries decided to stay away, as well as many spectators, but those who came lined the street, sitting in their cars, watching from doorways and someone even brought a tent for spectators to stand under.

The most important thing at the parade on Saturday though was a positive attitude. It takes a lot of planning and hard work to have a parade and the organizers brought their umbrellas and rode on their float or in their cars. The fire trucks were there too!

A new category for the Crouse Christmas Parade this year was the selection of Miss/Mister Crouse in different age groups. (See their pictures in the Photo Gallery)

Riding in yesterday’s parade were:

  • Mr. Crouse – Sawyer Reynolds
  • Miss Crouse – Cheyenne Huss
  • Jr. Miss Crouse - Bailey Huss
  • Little Miss Crouse – Cadiebelle
  • Tiny Miss Crouse – Larken Metts

Hopefully as the annual Christmas Parade grows and they have some better weather it will form great memories for everyone, especially the kids. It's something that kids get to experience that a lot of kids don't, so the organizers do the work that it takes to give kids those memories.

Be inspired to join in, march, dance, sing, or just watch. Everyone has a different reaction but there is something special about the experience. For at least a day you’ll feel like you have been a part of small town Americana. We can’t wait now for the Fourth of July Parade in Crouse!
