Easter Celebration Held For Oaklawn Community Children

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - On Tuesday, April 9 members of the United Way Teen Board partnered with Communities in Schools, and Boy Scouts of America – Piedmont Council to host an Easter event for children in the Oaklawn community.

Cathy Davis, from the Lincoln Cultural Center, Charlie Reep and John Davis donated plastic eggs and candy to fill over 450 eggs.

The children were treated to crafts, an Easter egg hunt, refreshments and an archery demonstration by Adam McCarrison, Heartland Senior District Executive for the Piedmont Council, B.S.A.

“Our community gatherings for the kids in the Oaklawn Community continue to grow each month, and it’s exciting to have community partners like the Boy Scouts join us,” said Kathy Vinzant, Executive Director for United Way of Lincoln County. “These events are truly a community collaboration with Communities in Schools hosting and groups like the Lincoln Cultural Center, and special individuals stepping up to help with supplies.”

The United Way Teen Board is developing a calendar of monthly events for the Oaklawn Community in coordination with Communities in Schools.
