LINCOLNTON, N.C.––A toast to Kirk Herbertson!
The noted Lincolnton photographer, a veteran of countless pictures contributed to the Lincoln Herald, recently became the president of the Lincolnton Chapter of Toastmasters, International.
Herbertson told The Herald all about it on Saturday. He was formerly the local Toastmasters’ vice president of membership.
“I am proud to be leading the Toastmasters,” said Herbertson.
The move comes following the resignation of Tamela Jolley, who had to leave the Toastmasters due to other commitments. Jolley, formerly the group’s vice president of education, was in line to become its president. But her resignation opened the door for Herbertson to succeed her, and now he leads the group.
“I look forward to leading the meetings each Monday night,” he said, adding that the Toastmasters meet every Monday, 7-8 p.m., at the Lincoln Cultural Center in uptown Lincolnton. “I also hope that we have people visit our club who might join us as members. I hope we will get to have area contests and much more while I am president. There are speaking contests, table topics contests, evaluation contests and more in the Toastmasters.”
Herbertson added that the Toastmasters’ year runs from July to July. And he encouraged local folks to come out and join the group and all the fun.
