LINCOLNTON - The Lincoln County Public Library System is closed until further notice at all branches. All fines will be suspended while the library is closed. Please visit their FACEBOOK PAGE for important updates about curbside service and online story times and programming. 

Should you need help accessing any of the online web resources or have questions about programming that will be offered online as an alternative to traditional programming please do not hesitate to contact the local branches.

Temporary Library Card For Lincoln County Residents

Even though the library is closed to the public Lincoln County residents, who do not have a library card, can receive one to use digital resources for themselves or their children due to the current emergency situation. The Temporary Card will be valid through June 30, 2020.  

How to get a Temporary Card: Call your local Lincoln County Public Library branch and provide them with proof of residence and/or a valid mailing address; current phone number and email address; you will receive your library card number with a 4-digit pin number.

What do you get with the card? With your library card you can check out books, audiobooks, and DVD’s through the Curbside Service.  Online you can gain access to many resources including overdrive, NCKids, CreativeBug, Digital Magazines, and more!

Curb Service

There are two ways to request items from the Charles R. Jonas or Florence Shanklin Library (West Lincoln Branch is currently moving to new location). Curbside Service is available Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.

  • Using the Online Catalog: Visit the library website at select library catalog; log into your account; select titles you wish to place on hold; library staff will pull the items and call you when they are ready for pickup; staff will need to verify you account with your card number, current address and phone number.
  • Phone In A Hold Request: Call your local branch; provide a list of titles; staff will need to verify you account with your card number, current address and phone number; requested items will be pulled and the staff will call one items are ready for pick-up.
  • Pick-up Materials: Pull into one of the marked parking spots designated for Curb Service; Call library staff to let them know you are parked outside; Staff will place items on outside table and wave to notify you that you can pick-up your books.


  • Please if you are sick send someone else to pick-up your items. Let staff know who will be picking up items.
  • No requests can be made at the door. All requests must be made either online or over the phone.
  • No items are to be returned to the curbside tables. Returned books must be placed in the book drop box.


  • Storytime Live – Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10:30 a.m. Join Miss Ana as we read, sing and dance.
  • Invisible Librarian – Every Friday at 12 p.m. Tune in to hear the invisible librarian recommend great books.
  • Camp Wannaread – Monday through Friday at 1 p.m. Join Ms. Kelly for a fun read-a-loud with juevenile fiction every day.
  • Candy’s Creative Crafts – Every Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. Join Ms. Candy to make fun and simple crafts with everyday household materials.
  • As Seen on Pinterest – Every Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Follow along as we guide you through Pinterest projects that are easily replicated at home.
  • Simply Science – Every Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Join Ms. Erin and Ms. Allyson for fun science lessons and demos.
