It's the BIG Show!

Wayne Howard
Reporter

In 2020, the 'lost year' because of the pandemic, most of the events we usually enjoy every year were canceled.  This year, with the incidence of COVID-19 lessening, more people getting vaccinated, and most of the restrictions being ended, those events can return.

Last year, before the pandemic got so bad, Craig Campbell had been booked for the DABA event.  Finally, on June 26th, he'll be here to entertain those who attend the Fireworks & Music Spectacular at the East Lincoln High School stadium.

Campbell is the headliner, but other country music stars will join him on the program.  Shane Willis and Cooper Alan will also be there.

One might rightfully call the DABA Fireworks & Concert Lincoln County's Independence celebration.  Lincolnton has its parade and fireworks on July 4th, but this is the 'county' event.  DABA president Shantae Brown notes that without the help of County Manager Kelly Atkins, County Recreation Director John Davis, and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, especially Lt. Jordan Cody, and the cooperation of Dr. Aaron Allen and the Lincoln County Schools, this event couldn't happen.  Brown doesn't talk much about her own behind the scenes help in making it happen.  She does extol Maria Dunn of Complete RV, who takes care of the entertainers' needs every year.

Something new this year: with a record crowd expected to attend, a shuttle will be making trips to and from the stadium from a parking area near Walmart beginning at 4 PM.  It's being paid for by Queens Landing of Lake Norman and operated by Christian Tours.

Admission to the event is FREE.  It gets underway at 4 PM and will conclude with the fireworks show at the end of the evening.  In addition to the entertainment and fireworks, those attending can enjoy a variety of food from multiple vendors.
