They're Already Talking About Christmas

Wayne Howard
Staff Writer

There  won't be a Tree Lighting ceremony in Lincolnton this year;  instead, the tree n the east side of the courthouse will have its lights turned on as Santa passes during the Christmas parade the Sunday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 28th).

That same evening, the East Lincoln Betterment Association will hold its tree lighting at 5:30 PM in front of Lake Norman Lutheran Church at the corner of NC16-business and Natalie Commons Drive.

Also at 5:30 on Nov. 28th, the town of Stanley will have its tree lighting on Main Street near the railroad tracks.  Stanley's Christmas parade will be on Wednesday Dec. 15th at 3 PM.

The committee hasn't yet met, but plans now--unless something changes--are for the Cat Square Christmas Parade to be held on Saturday December 11th at 1 PM.  That same day, Cherryville will have its Christmas parade at 10:30 Saturday morning.

Lincoln County Commissioners approved the ELBA Denver parade at their meeting last week.  It will be held on Saturday December 4th.  This year's theme is "Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child."  You can find entry information on the ELBA Facebook page at

Maiden's Christmas parade will be on the Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 27th).

Hickory's Christmas parade will be the first in our area. It happens on the evening of Nov. 19th, the Friday before Thanksgiving.
