Cathi Gann, Exceptional Children’s Teacher at Lincolnton Middle School, has received the 2021 Exceptional Children Educator of Excellence Award. She will be recognized at the Exceptional Children Division’s 70th Conference on Exceptional Children at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro on November 17-19, 2021.
Mrs. Gann plays a vital role in not only educating EC students at Lincolnton Middle School, but also mentoring other EC teachers, seeking ways to reach other students in the areas of social emotional skills and serving as an assistant coach for the girl’s basketball team. Mrs. Gann has taught at Lincolnton Middle School since 2015.
Lincolnton Middle School principal Allison Rhyne said, “We are so proud of Mrs. Gann! She works very hard each and every day and always goes above and beyond to ensure her students' needs are met. She advocates for our students and encourages her peers to do the same. Mrs. Gann also volunteers at a theater in Newton where she works with kids and young adults with special needs to become performers on stage. She truly is dedicated to not only her job as an educator but also to her calling to be an advocate for children. We are very blessed to have Mrs. Gann not only here at Lincolnton Middle School but also as a member of our community."
