“Jingle all the way!”

Yes, Christmas is coming, and with it come countless fun events. Two are on the horizon in Gaston County, according to sponsor Gaston County Parks and Recreation.

Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. brings “Jingle Trails,” parks and rec’s first-ever Christmas mountain bike ride at Poston Park in Lowell. Bikers should meet at the park’s first shelter, near the pump track. Rides begin at 10:30 a.m.

Participants will head out into the county’s deep woods on what are described as “some superb winter trails. More than six miles of distance options will be available, all fully sign-posted, with a top level of trail-ride support. The routes will give you the very best ride for this time of year. We will have guided routes for kids, beginners, families and intermediate riders. Hot and cold beverages will be provided, as well as Christmas goodies for everyone!”

Plus, T-shirts will be for sale at the event. And prizes will be awarded in the “Best Outfit” and “Best Decorated Bike” categories.

Historic Christmas village, Dec. 10

And in Dallas, you won’t want to miss the annual historic Christmas village, coming up Dec. 10 at 2 p.m.

This heritage-themed free event presents a Christmas as local folks might have known it in the 1890’s through the early 1900’s. It’s held at the 1890’s Heritage Village at Dallas Park. This event features Christmas crafts, apple cider, hot chocolate, cookies, children’s games and more.

Santa Claus will be on hand to share in the Christmas cheer, so don’t forget to bring your cameras for pictures with the kids. Plus, they’ll enjoy old-fashioned candy in the general store. And there will be live Christmas music, too.
