LINCOLNTON, N.C. - The Jacob Forney Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, celebrated its 90th Anniversary on December 1, 2018, with a reception at the historic Lincoln Cultural Center in Lincolnton, North Carolina. Honored guests included three North Carolina Society Daughters of the American Revolution State Officers; the District II Director, Robin Meyer; and three Jacob Forney Chapter Past Regents. North Carolina State Officers in attendance were Anna Choi, State Vice Regent; Elizabeth McAteer, State Historian; and Nancy Wark, State Librarian.
The program included the DAR Ritual and Posting of the Colors by the North Carolina Society Sons of the American Revolution (NCSSAR). The Colors were posted by Jack Bowman, President of the Catawba Valley Chapter, NCSSAR; Jim Tatum, Color Guard Commander of the Mecklenburg Chapter, NCSSAR; and Steve McKee, Vice President of the Mecklenburg Chapter, NCSSAR. Ruby Parker, Past Regent, led the Pledge of Allegiance, and Past Regent Anna Sutton led the American’s Creed.
Vickie Amessa, Chapter Regent, opened the ceremony and Pat Hance, Past Chapter Regent, offered greetings and briefly highlighted the chapter’s history. The Jacob Forney Chapter was chartered on September 24, 1928. The Organizing Regent, Mrs. George A. Brown, and all of the organizing members were direct descendants of Jacob Forney. Past Regents Pat Hance, Ruby Parker, and Anna Sutton were recognized. Each guest was presented with a handmade Christmas Ornament. Linda Hoyle, Chapter Historian, created a display of the chapter’s historic documents that included the “Minute Book of the Jacob Forney Chapter, NSDAR for September 1928”.
