County Kicks Off New Land Use Plan
Lincoln County's current Land Use Plan was adopted in 2018. While there have been some amendments over the years since, it has now been decided that an update to the Plan is in order.  County Commissioners and the County Planning Board held a special session Monday afternoon (May 16th) to talk about Blueprint 2043.

Lincoln County Child Advocacy Center was selected to be one of 200 finalists out of 4,000 entries for a $25,000 grant offered through the State Farm Neighborhood Assist program. They now need the help of the community by voting for their cause to put them in the top 100 to receive $25,000. Voting is easy but please do so through May 6.

Author of Book About Ridgeview to Visit Library
Lincolnton had Newbold.  Bessemer City had Lincoln High.  Gastonia had Highland.  They were the black high schools in the days of segregation.  Integration closed them and a cultural history was largely lost.  Hickory had perhaps the most revered of those schools--Ridgeview.  A descendant of one of Ridgeview's unbeaten 1964 football team will be at the Ridgeview Branch Libary on Saturday April 23rd, to talk about the school, the team and her new book.

It's Strawberry Season--Almost
The weekend cold spell didn't do much to spoil what may be a great year for strawberries.  That's what Ethan Lineberger at Lineberger's Maple Springs Farm on the Stanley-Dallas Highway told us Monday mornnig.  "This year's may be the best in nearly a decade," he said, "larger and more plentiful."  The first strawberries of the season were to become available Monday afternoon (April 11th).

Cherryville Radio Station Switching FM Frequency
Cherryville radio station WCSL will be switching its FM frequency beginning this Friday (April 1st).  The station will continue to broadcast on 1590 AM, but will now be heard at 92.9 FM.  A new FM tower location will also mean increased coverage for the FM signal.

The East Lincoln Theatre Arts Program will present "Beauty and the Beast" this Thursday, Friday & Saturday night at 7, Sunday at 2, and next weekend as well--at the East Lincoln Black Box Theatre.  There's also a special Saturday event for kids.

The Catawba Valley Music Revival, Inc. (CVMR) hosted the 4th annual Coot Williams Road Bluegrass Festival which ran Thursday through Saturday, September 6-8 and attracted around two to three hundred people per day.
