Calvin Lee Maxey
March 7, 1961 - November 7, 2017

NEWTON, N.C. - Calvin Lee Maxey, age 56, of Newton passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at his residence.

Born March 7, 1961 in Lynchburg County, Va., he was the son of Jimmy Calvin Maxey and the late Marlene Smith Snipes. Calvin was a US Army veteran, was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Conover and a volunteer fireman for Startown and Newton.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Maxey; father-in-law, Ray Hollar; two brothers-in-law, James and Jerry Hoke; and stepmother-in-law, Ruth Hollar.

He is survived by his wife Tina Hollar Maxey of the home; two daughters April and husband Brian Ried Jr. of Newton and Rhonda Maxey and boyfriend Mike Billips of Catawba; father Jimmy Maxey and wife Betty of Virginia; three sisters Lawander Howard and Donna Davis, both of Newton and Sharon Maxey of Maiden; two brothers Jim Maxey and Ricky Overstreet, both of Newton; four granddaughters Alexis, Jasmine, Alissa and Trinity; grandson Sean; six sisters-in-law Karen Smith, Patty Martin, Marjorie Harris, Judy Sherrill, Vicky Greeson and Peggy Cagle; two brothers-in-law Charlie Hoke and Gene Hollar.

Services will be announced at a later date.
