Josephine Blackburn
November 15, 1923 - May 24, 2019

LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Josephine Blackburn, 95, of Lincolnton passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019 at the home of her niece, Carol Watson and husband Gary.

She was born November 15, 1923 in Catawba County to the late Frederick James Blackburn Sr. and Sara Wilfong Blackburn. Josephine was a member of St. Paul’s Reformed Church in Newton and retired after 48 years of service at Overnite Transportation. She loved playing the piano, gardening and watching westerns. Josephine was a descendant of Revolutionary war heroes, Major George Wilfong, John Wilfong and Jacob Ramsour.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Blackburn Reep; brother, Freddy Blackburn, and nephew, Bill Reep.

Those left to cherish her memory are nieces Carol Watson and husband Gary, Tina Nardoci and husband Bruce, Barbara Blackburn; nephew Danny Blackburn; great-niece Heather Meadows; great-nephews Sean Watson and wife Alyssa, Andy Watson and wife Felicia, David Blackburn; great-great-nieces Julia Meadows, Lana Meadows, Izzy Watson and Ella Watson; and great-great-nephews Noah Watson and Drew Watson.

A special thanks to Brenda Gordon, Erin Quarzenski, Debra Speaks, Camille Hawn, Tonya Walsh and staff of Carolina Caring.

A service to celebrate Josephine’s life will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Reformed Church in Newton. Rev. Dr. Steve Disher, Rev. Dr. Rob Helton and Rev. Rick Crotts will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 3 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at St. Paul’s Reformed Church. Those serving as pallbearers are Sean Watson, Andy Watson, Bruce Nardoci, David Blackburn, Edward Watson and Bryan Watson.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Reformed Church, Missions and Youth Group, 3562 Startown Road, Newton, NC 28658 or Carolina Caring of Robinson Road, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
