Jerry Allen Baker
February 10, 1942 - May 23, 2019

CONOVER, N.C. - Jerry Allen Baker, 77, of Conover passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

He was born February 10, 1942 in Catawba County to the late Forrest Adelbert Baker and Lucille Margureite Bolick Baker. Jerry was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover, member of Newton-Conover Rescue Squad, Catawba Valley Gem and Mineral Club and Hiddenite Gem and Mineral Club. He was an expert lapid (cutting gemstones) artist and gold prospector.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 55 years Lou Alice Teague Baker of the home; son Allen Shay Baker of Conover; daughter Jerri Alice Baker Carter and husband Jason of Conover; grandchildren Kristin LeAnn Baker, “A.J” Allen Shay Baker Jr., Maggie Lou Alice Carter, and Mary Elizabeth Lucille Carter.

Jerry’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at 3 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church in Conover. Rev. Paul Nelson will officiate. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Concordia Christian Day School Scholarship Fund, 216 5th Ave. SE, Conover, NC 28613 or University Christian High School Scholarship Fund, 602 7th Ave. NE, Hickory, NC 28601.
