Ted Tate Whisnant
December 31, 1937 - May 11, 2020

CONOVER, N.C. - Ted Tate Whisnant, 82, of Conover passed away on Monday, May 11, 2020 at Trinity Village in Hickory.

He was born December 31, 1937 in Cross Hill, S.C. to the late Ford and Ruby Barringer Whisnant. Ted was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Newton, loved gardening and antique cars. He was a member of County Roads Model A Club and Model A Restore Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Whisnant; and brothers, Wayne Whisnant and Dean Whisnant.

Those left to cherish his memory are daughter Beverly Ferguson and husband Steve of Greensboro, Kim Rogers and husband Chris of Atlanta, Ga.; stepdaughter Tammy Bentley and husband Gerald of Hickory; Bob Whisnant and wife Catherine of Hickory; grandchildren Hannah and Madeline Rogers.

A service to celebrate Ted’s life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton, NC 28658. Rev. Scott Johnson and Rev. Steve Rhodes will officiate. Inurnment will follow at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery in Newton.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Mission of the Blind, ℅ St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2126 Saint Johns Church Rd. NE, Conover, NC 28613 or St. James Lutheran Church, 1942 Saint James Church Road, Newton, NC 28658.
