Johnny Ray Chapman, 47, of Vale passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at his residence.
He was born January 16, 1974 in Catawba County to the late Dale Chapman and to Nancy Abernethy Chapman of Vale. Johnny enjoyed fishing, visiting the mountains and hiking with his dad.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William “Bill” Raymond Chapman and Evelyn Wilson Chapman; and maternal grandfather, James Abernethy.
Left to cherish his memory are a son William “John” Chapman of Lincolnton, a daughter Addison “Addy” Chapman of Lincolnton, his mother Nancy Abernethy Chapman of Vale, a brother Kenny Chapman of Vale, a sister Angela Keener and husband Cris of Maiden, his grandmother Clara Abernethy of Hickory, lifelong friend and cousin Chad Baker of Springfield, MO, numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, and a niece.
A memorial service to celebrate Johnny’s life will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton, NC 28658. Rev. Tommy Young will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to service from 3:00 to 3:45 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service.
