CONOVER, N.C. - Tipton “Tip” Lee Deitz Sr., 63, of Conover passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Frye Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 1, 1958 in Stuttgart, Germany to the late Harold Floyd Deitz Sr. and Bonnie Marie Isenhour Deitz. Tip was a member of Freedom Biker Church in Conover and employed with Duke Energy as a contractor. He was a “jack of all trades” and a master of many. He was a devoted husband, proud father, and a wonderful “Pop” to his grandchildren, as well as a loving brother and uncle. Tip was the life of the party with his big personality and was sure to be dancing anytime music was playing. He enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his Blue Heeler, Dunkin. Tip was a compassionate soul and found a great deal of joy in playing “Santa” during the holiday season in the community as well as knitting hats that he would donate to local hospital NICUs and homeless shelters. He never met a stranger and wouldn’t think twice to help someone in need.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Floyd Deitz Jr.; sister, Robin Long; and brother-in-law, Timothy O’Brien.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife of 22 years Elizabeth Grace Vaught Deitz of the home; sons Tipton “Lee” Deitz Jr. and partner Jessica of Hickory, Lance Deitz and partner Kathryn of Conover, Lt. Col. Justin Smith of Alexandria, Va.; daughters Jenna Teague and husband Jarrod of Havelock, Jessie Stewart and wife Brittany of Lexington; brothers Michael Deitz of Conover, Brian Deitz and wife Robin of Conover; sisters Pat O’Brien of Conover, Donna Abernethy and husband Ronald of Maiden, Wendy Secrest and husband Kenny of Conover; brother-in-law Robert Long of Garner; sister-in-law Nancy Deitz of Conover; grandchildren Vivian, Jackson, Lorelei, Henry, Carson, and Talon; numerous nieces and nephews.
