Rev. William Edgar Lemmond Jr.
March 4, 1950 - October 19, 2021

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Rev. William Edgar Lemmond Jr., 71, of Knoxville was unexpectedly called home on October 19, 2021.

Born on March 4, 1950 he was the son of the late William Edgar Lemmond Sr. and Pearl Burris Lemmond.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Lemmond; his son, Michael Lemmond (Linda); their mother, Paula Womack; as well as many extended family members and friends.

In addition to being a loving father, Ed was an active member of Central Baptist Church of Bearden where he most recently served as a Sunday school leader. Ed's unwavering faith led him to pursue a career as a chaplain, serving first as the Director of Pastoral Care at St. Mary's Hospital and most recently with Caris Healthcare as a hospice chaplain. He brought great comfort to so many during their most difficult days. He found tremendous joy in reaching patients and families through his playing of hymns on the organ which was then broadcast across the hospital televisions. His compassion, empathy, humanity, and kindness were unmatched. When not serving others, Ed found enjoyment in cooking, being sure to always pass along his favorite recipes to others. His excitement and enthusiasm for trips to Costco for ingredients and supplies were evident through his animated stories of his shopping excursions. Ed was also a loyal fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Atlanta Braves. His favorite time of year was the holiday season when he could spend quality time with his family. Ed was a faithful man of God and his impact through his work and everyday interactions will live on for years to come. Ed never knew a stranger and will be greatly missed.

The family received friends from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Central Baptist Church of Bearden, 6300 Deane Hill Drive, Knoxville. TN. A Celebration of Life service immediately followed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Baptist Church of Bearden.

East Tennessee Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Blountville, Tenn. is serving the Lemmond family.
