LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Catherine Cotogno McLeod, age 97, of Lincolnton, entered into her heavenly home on Tuesday, November 16, 2021.
Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Salem Baptist Church with Rev. Shea Houser officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021, at Salem Baptist Church. Her body will lie in state from 12 p.m. until 1:45 p.m.
Mrs. McLeod was born April 4, 1924, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Vito and Lena Mendolia Cotogno. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Pershing McLeod; a son, William Victor McLeod; a daughter, Mary Catherine McLeod; grandson, Will McLeod; sister Nora Corso.
She is survived by two sons, John Latham McLeod, and Joseph B. McLeod and wife Melanie, both of Lincolnton; daughters, Jeanette Henley and husband Charlie of Maiden, Linda M. Hallman and husband Rick of Claremont, and Annie Lou M. Midkiff, and husband Jerry, of Oak Ridge; brother, Leonard Cotogno and wife Helen of Louisiana; one sister, Ramona Mastalerz of Texas; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Catherine was a godly lady who was a caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family. She and her husband volunteered for many years with the developmentally delayed community Sunday School class.
