Joe Rolland Eggers
June 30, 1938 - February 13, 2022

HICKORY, N.C. - Joe Rolland Eggers, 83, of Hickory passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Catawba Valley Medical Center.

He was born June 30, 1938 in Catawba County to the late KB and Sadie Starnes Eggers. Joe was a charter member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for more than 60 years and retired from Coca-Cola after 52 years of service. Joe enjoyed fishing and feeding his birds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mayce Phillips Eggers; brother, Bob Eggers; sister, Jeanette Grimes; and great-grandson, Corbin Eggers.

Those left to cherish his memory are sons Danny Eggers and wife Iris of Lincolnton, Randy Eggers and wife Genia of Hickory; daughters Cindy Cook and husband Steve of Forest, Va., Sandy Huffman and husband Keith of Claremont, Candy Tomblin and husband Keith of Taylorsville; brothers Johnny Eggers and wife Mary of Hickory, Kenny Eggers and wife Sue of Hickory; sisters Vickie McKinney and husband Mike of Swannanoa, Jean Patterson and husband Joe of Whitesboro, Texas; grandchildren Cody Eggers (Carla), Allison (TJ) Chapman, Brandon Eggers (Kayla), Kyle Eggers (Meredith), Kristin Glassgow (Chad), Nathaniel Cook (Meea), Natalie Cook (Will), Christian Huffman (Brittany), Cassie Huffman (Nick), Logan Walters (Jayla), Kaden Tomblin, Maci Cook, Courtney (Justion) Moseley, Connor Tomblin, David Propst (Amy), Tabitha Byers (Sport), Matt Waters (Katie), Mandy Palmer (Caleb), Megan Yancey (Jeremy); great-grandchildren Carter Joseph, Colton, Landon, Henry, Remi, Mallory, Emma Grace, Luke, Mason, Brayden, Parker, Jaxon, River, Carter Joe, Pharris, Parker, Landon and Brendan, Caroline, Logan, Hazel, Cannon and Bexley.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Glenn and staff for their care and concern for Joe.

A graveside service to celebrate Joe’s life was held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Springs Road Baptist Church cemetery in Hickory. Rev. Scott Hooks officiated. The family received friends following the graveside service. Those serving as pallbearers were Cody Eggers, Brandon Eggers, Kyle Eggers, Nathaniel Cook, Christian Huffman, Logan Walters, and Kaden Tomblin.
