Morgan Faith Bibbee, 19, of Hickory, took her first steps and danced into eternity with Jesus on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. With no further need for her pretty pink wheelchair, she breathed her last at Brenner’s PICU after a very short hospital stay. She faced so many challenges, but descriptions of her from family and friends included: spunky, playful, feisty, even earning the “Firecracker Award” one year in her Conover School classroom.
She liked wearing glasses: her own prescription glasses for many years, but when she was no longer interested in these, she grabbed other people’s glasses or sunglasses to put on herself. She was strong-willed and determined. When someone stood near her with a water bottle, somehow that bottle ended up with Morgan, and she would spend hours crinkling the plastic and turning it over and over in her hands. She loved being on the move: in her wheelchair, swinging in her net swing, swimming in the pool with her neck float, even rocking so hard in her activity chair it would move across the floor. And with the brakes on! Sitting still was not one of her strengths.
Although she never spoke a word in her lifetime, she brought so much joy to people around her. Much time can be filled when we start telling “Morgan stories” and remembering her wild curls, her toothy grin, her love for watching fireworks and for chewing on sock monkeys.
Morgan was born on August 16, 2002, in St. Paul, MN, where she lived with her family until they moved to NC in 2008. She was a graduate of Conover School and also spent time at the Adult Life Program. Morgan was supported all her life by many wonderful health care professionals. She was preceded in death by her sister, Megan Nicole Bibbee. Morgan will be missed greatly by her parents, Kevin and Kamy Bibbee; her sister Kaylin Brooke Bibbee, of the home; grandmother; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins; a loving Hickory Church of Christ family; and many friends who blessed Morgan and were blessed by her.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. A private graveside service will be held for the family. A celebration of Morgan’s life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Conover School cafeteria. There will be a video presentation and open mic for loved ones to share “Morgan stories”. Everyone who loved Morgan is invited.
