CHERRYVILLE, N.C. - Jean Lackey Gantt, age 84, of Cherryville, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022 at her residence.
She was born February 25, 1938 in Lincoln County to the late William Beverly and Ethel Palmer Lackey. Jean was a 1956 graduate of North Brook High School. She was a lifelong member of North Brook Baptist Church. She loved gardening and working outdoors. Jean enjoyed fishing at the lake. She also enjoyed searching for seashells, shark’s teeth and four-leaf clovers. She was an avid reader and talented seamstress. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she adored her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Billy Gantt; and siblings, Glenn Lackey, Patsy Lackey, and Bobbie Tallent.
Survivors include her daughters, Anita Bridges (Carl), Juana Scribner (Randy), and Cindy Powell (Mark); sister, Katie Dellinger (John); grandchildren, Lindsey Kowaleski (Ryan), Joseph Bridges, Heather Beal, Sadie Gantt (Bradlee Adcock), and Ben Powell (Lindsay); great-grandchildren, Joecey Bridges, Jordan Chapman, Wyatt and Carter Kowaleski; nieces, Sandi Dellinger, Holly Kiser (Jimmy); nephew, Will Tallent; and close friend and caregiver, Debbie Greene.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2 p.m. at North Brook Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Bob Wise officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
