NEWTON, N.C. - Katlin “Katie” May Knapp-Wooten, 22, of Newton unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
She was born November 9, 1999 in Catawba County to Gerald L. Wooten Jr. and Jennifer Lynn Knapp. Katie was a 2019 graduate of Bandys High School. She loved her job at Boxcar Grille in Claremont and was hoping to start college soon to study welding. Katie had a giving heart and could be depended on to help when needed. She lived with her Nana in Newton to help take care of her.
Katie was amazingly unique and could be described as having an old soul. She expressed herself through her art using painting and drawing and loved all genres of music. Family time was always a fun time when Katie was there with her infectious smile and laugh. When Katie laughed, everyone laughed - you couldn't help but join in. She loved animals and those who knew her will not see an elephant, pig, or turtle without thinking of her. They will always remember her piggy pillow that remained by her side as she slept from childhood to adulthood.
Katie was a friend to everyone and she will be eternally missed by those who knew her and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Gerald L. Wooten Sr.; grandmother, Irmalee Knapp; and uncle, Pete Knapp.
Those left to cherish her memory are her father and bonus mom Gerald L. Wooten Jr. and Tera Ashely Wooten of Newton; mother Jennifer Lynn Knapp of Catawba; grandfather John R. Knapp of Addison, N.Y.; bonus grandfather Glenn Jarrett of Sealevel, N.C.; grandmothers Verna L.
