NEWTON, N.C. - Brian Shuford Mackie, 46, of Newton, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at his residence.
He was born September 10, 1975 in Catawba County to the late Dale Eugene Mackie and to Sherry Sigmon Lutz of Newton. Brian attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Conover, and was a graduate of Bandys High School. He was a previous member of St. Stephens Volunteer Fire Department and Conover Fire Department. Brian was an avid sportsman and loved his cat, Blackie.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dale Mackie.
Those left to cherish his memory is his son Greyson Mackie of Cherryville; former wife Marie Mackie of Cherryville; mother and step-father Sherry Sigmon Lutz and husband George of Newton.
A service to celebrate Brian’s life will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Conover. Rev. Brian Correll will officiate. Entombment will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory. The family will receive friends prior to service from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
