KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. - Mr. J L Sellers, 95, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.
J L was born in Gaston County on July 21, 1926 a son of the late Charlie Clayton Sellers and Mary Ella Sellers. He was retired as a dock worker from Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation. J L was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cherryville. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. J L enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with others, especially his cantaloupes.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Pansy Hallman Sellers; two sisters, Ruth Hoyle and Edna Craft; three brothers, Earl, Walter and Chatman Sellers.
Survivors include two daughters, Tresa Ratchford and Lisa Sellers; and a son, Blenard Sellers; two grandchildren, Leslie Stone and David Stone; one great-grandson, Stone Mintz; two sisters, Mary Jackson of Cherryville and Margie Bess of Kings Mountain; a brother, Herbert “Hub” Sellers of Lincolnton; also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Dale Hendricks officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
