SHERRILLS FORD, N.C. - Kevin Lee Johnson, 67, of Sherrills Ford passed away unexpectedly on April 30, 2022 as a result of a motor vehicle accident.

He was born January 1, 1955 in Catawba County to the late Kenneth “Doc” Harlan Johnson and Frances Johnson Guernsey of Newton. Known as Mr. Fix It to his daughters, a name he earned for his ability to fix anything. Kevin was a loving husband, father, and Pop Pop to his grand furbabies, Luna and Hadleigh. He enjoyed sitting on the porch with his wife and taking walks around the neighborhood, talking with the neighbors and handing out treats to the neighborhood dogs. Kevin never met a stranger and was known to many; he will be greatly missed.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth “Rosebud” Harlan Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife and love of his life of 50 years Patsy Waddell Johnson of the home; his baby girls Angela Johnson Shook and husband Chad Shook of Huntersville, Michelle (Missy) Leigh Johnson and Henry McGovern; beloved cats Toonts, whom he loved and taught to sit up and beg for treats, and Dexter; grandcat Luna; granddog Hadleigh; mother Frances Gurnsey of Newton; and aunt Libby Baker of Lincolnton.

A memorial service to celebrate Kevin’s life will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy 16, Newton. Pastor Sarah Underwood will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service. If you are the owner of a classic car, the family invites you to drive it to the service.
