NEWTON, N.C. - Glenna Drum Sherrill, 91, of Newton, passed away on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at her residence.
She was born March 11, 1931 in Catawba County to the late Ivey Bowman Drum and Ada Lee Drum. Glenna was a member of First United Methodist in Conover and retired from the hosiery industry. She loved to cook, bake cakes and cookies, and enjoyed reading. Her cakes were enjoyed at church events and family gatherings. Glenna loved her Sunday School class and beach trips with the United Methodist Women.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Mal Adrian Sherrill; son, Cory Sherrill; grandson, Jeremy Lee Cashion; and great-grandchildren, Marin Steelmon and Hardin Steelmon; brothers, Hayes Drum, Ezra “Stump” Drum, and Tony Drum; and sister, Trilby Warren.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Deborah Sherrill Cashion and husband Jerry of Hickory, Rhonda Sherrill Williamson and husband Wayne of Charlotte, Mala Sherrill Dauber and husband Charlie of Conover; brothers-in-law Hal Sherrill, George Sherrill, and Max Sherrill; grandchildren Dr. Adrienne Cashion Bautista (Erwin) of Woodland, Calif., Trey Abernathy (Marie) of Ottowa, Canada, Thomas Chambers (Shana) of Hiddenite, Melissa Steelmon (Joshua) of Newton, Benjamin Williamson (Tonya) of Boulder, Colo., and Stephen Williamson (Tina) of Hickory; great-grandchildren Sidney Cashion, Kalie Chambers, Dawson Chambers, Devon Chambers (Harli), Raylen Branton, Alexandra Bautista, Abigail Bautista, Harley Abernathy, Cash Abernathy, Rhiana Graham, Eli Graham, Caroline Tallent, Merrick Williamson, and Maverick Steelmon; great-great-grandchild Tucker Chambers; nephews and nieces Dexter Warren, Shelton Drum, Grey Drum, Zane Drum, Rain Drum, Kenny Sherrill, Jonathon Sherrill, Eric Sherrill, Stephen Sherrill, David Sherrill, Carol Drum, Criss Ervin, Michaele Autry, Vanessa Jones, and Tracy Stotts.
A service to celebrate Glenna’s life will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Conover. Rev. Dixon Adams, Rev. Charmaigne Van Rooyen, and Rev. John Woods will officiate. Burial will follow at Conover City Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the Family Life Center. Those serving as pallbearers are Dawson Chambers, Devon Chambers, Thomas Chambers, Gabe Ervin, Quint Ervin, and Rain Drum
