Press Release

HICKORY, N.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Visiting Writers in Residence, Anne-Marie Fyfe and Cahal Dallat, will host an open discussion on American poets, Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell, Monday, March 18, at Patrick Beaver Memorial Library at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Fyfe has extensively researched Bishop’s work and was given a grant by Arts Council England to travel to Nova Scotia, where she stayed and studied in Bishop’s childhood home. The research Fyfe completed during this time is included in her latest book, the story of her coastal journeys in Britain, Ireland, the United States, and Canada, which will be published this summer.

Fyfe and Dallat are both writers from London who are spending the spring semester on LR’s Hickory campus as part of the University’s Visiting Writer in Residence program. Both writers regularly teach workshops and classes at London's leading live literature venue, the Troubadour Coffee-House.
