LINCOLNTON, N.C. – Parade, did I hear somebody say a parade? Yes, that is exactly what it was – a Festival Parade of Tables last Monday night, September 28 in the fellowship hall at First United Methodist Church in Lincolnton.
Tables were decorated with flowers, plants, hats and fine dishes and cowboy chuckwagon gear. Themes depicting Mama’s Kitchen, Autumn, Tea Parties and Blest Be The Tie That Binds were on the tables all over the room filled with women of the church and their guests. A meal of beef tips over rice, vegetable medley salad, baked pineapple delight and autumn apple cake was served by the men of the church. Afterwards entertainment was provided by “Gladys and Herbert Klutz” (Joanna and Neil Underwood) and a crew of dancing ladies knows as the “Kitchen Cuties”.
All the excitement was to raise money to buy and fill 20 backpacks for the churches Backpack Ministry that will be delivered to G.E. Massey Elementary School. In addition a silent auction was held with proceeds going to the ministry.
Now in its third year this Festival Parade of Tables was the best yet according to organizers Mary Anna Rankin and Amy Lockman.
