Boone-based bluegrass gospel group Amantha Mill will perform May 26th at 6 PM at Living Word Ministries, 1062 NC16-business south at Lowesville.
The group was formed by band member Becca Eggers Gryder. It derives its name from the small mill community of Amantha, situated near Boone and Beech Mountain, not far from the Tennessee border. “The original mill that we are named after washed away many years ago in a flood,” Gryder said. “But if you’re driving through Cove Creek, you can still see part of its footing.”
Amantha Mill has honed its sound and performance to include musical types from traditional bluegrass to swing, cowboy, country and Americana/roots. All the members of Amantha Mill share a long collective history in their particular musical instruments and vocal talents. When joined together, it coalesces into tight harmonies and an explosive, energetic sound that pays tribute to the musical heritage of Appalachia.
Also appearing at the Saturday concert will be Forever Changed, a Southern gospel group from Lexington, SC.
Admission to the concert is free, but a free-will offering will be taken.
