Christian Ministry’s Amazing Parade Against Hunger last weekend was a real triumph.
Mitzi Williams, the executive director of Christian Ministry of Lincoln County. thanked everyone who made possible this important fundraiser that raised more than $6,000 out of a goal of $8,000 for the ministry’s LINC Meals program, which delivers hot meals to local seniors and shut-ins.
“Thank you to those who came out to our Amazing Parade Against Hunger!” she enthused, adding, “We are still receiving financial support. You still have time to get your contribution in the mail.”
Williams said the ministry still hopes to attain the goal for LINC Meals.
“The overall winner with the most funds raised was Bethel Lutheran Church,” she revealed. "Th winner of the best-decorated church vehicle goes to Freedom Church. The second-place winner of the best-decorated church vehicle goes to Bethel Lutheran Church. The first-place individual car decorated goes to Addie Milburn. Thank you for supporting the LINC Meals program!”
Williams said she wants people to know that the ministry has food available.
“We need help getting the word out that we have food,” she said, “an abundance of food! It is here for the taking. People do not have to show any paperwork. People can come every 15 days for food.”
They can also come every Wednesday for the ministry’s parking lot giveaway, 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM.
The ministry’s volunteers are its lifeblood, Williams noted. If you can help out in any of the many needed capacities, or if you have students who need community-service volunteer hours for their school projects, clubs or social organizations, send your e-mails to Woody Saunders: firstname.lastname@example.org.
