LINCOLNTON, N.C. – The Eighth Annual Cool Event Empty Bowl Ice Cream Sale benefiting the Soup Kitchen at Lincoln County Christian Ministries had it all – a lot of artistry, ice cream, friendly faces and generosity.

Local potters donated bowls of all sizes, colors and materials that filled four large tables. Attendees could search for the perfect bowl, purchase it for a $10 donation, then have it filled with delicious homemade ice cream provided by members and friends of Salem Lutheran and United Church of Christ.

What could be more perfect for young and old alike, on a hot afternoon, than to choose a piece of pottery and enjoy the coolness of homemade ice cream… Plus give to a worthy cause.

The event held Sunday, August 24, marked the eighth year that Salem Lutheran and United Church of Christ has drawn attention to the hunger in our community using the symbolism of the empty bowl. Final figures from Sunday’s event were not available for this article.

Salem Lutheran and United Church of Christ is located at 3410 Startown Road in Lincolnton.
