500th Anniversary Of The Reformation Celebrated

LINCOLNTON, N.C. – This year marked a very special year as the 500th anniversary of the year Martin Luther made his 95 Theses known to the world, thus changing the history of the church, country, and world forever on October 21, 1517.

In honor of this monumental occasion, eleven area congregations hosted a Community Reformation Service on Sunday, October 30 at the Laboratory Mill in Lincolnton.

Participating in the evening service were:

  • Rev. Fred Mitschke (Bethphage Lutheran, Lincolnton)
  • Rev. Dale Pederson (Cedar Grove Lutheran, Vale)
  • Rev. David Fox (Daniel’s Lutheran, Lincolnton)
  • Rev. Michael Collins (Emmanuel Lutheran, Lincolnton)
  • Rev. Chad Walker (Holy Cross Lutheran, Lincolnton)
  • Rev. Ron Fink (Salem Lutheran, Lincolnton)
  • Rev. Ben Kifer (St. John’s Lutheran, Cherryville)
  • Rev. Rosa Erickson (St. Luke’s Episcopal, Lincolnton)
  • Rev. Jonathan Gantt (St. Mark’s Lutheran, Cherryville)
  • Rev. Rick Sloop (St. Paul’s Lutheran, Crouse)
  • Rev. Tommy Lineberger (Trinity Lutheran, Vale)

Andrew Barbour of Emmanuel Lutheran in Lincolnton coordinated and directed the music with a group of singers from the various congregations.

After the service participants were asked to join together for light refreshments in an Oktoberfest tradition.
