In life it’s during the off balance moments when some of the most beautiful things can happen. Have you watched a gymnastics competition and seen the athletes do somersaults? They had to be off balance to do that; or how about the kicker for the Carolina Panthers kicking that 63 yard field goal, he had to be off balance to get that much kick on the ball. Many of the most unique moments in sports and human performance achievements even in dance have occurred when the performer is off balance. The results we marvel about are from many practiced tries and fails until the results of their off balance produces predictable results. Therefore we have a 63 yard successful kick, a somersault on the balance beam and a dancer’s leap in the air.
God is at His best when we are off balance. When we feel uncertain, He isn’t. “Even the darkness is as light to Him.” He knows right where He is even when darkness shrouds our path. Just know this, walking in the company of our Lord will carry us into the light, bring us to balance. In other words, seek God in your troubles and He will be near. His balance is our balance, His sight becomes our sight, His mission is our mission. What is hard for us to cope with is hearing His voice in the crisis when it is shrouded by all the other voices sounding off at the same time. Only through a relationship with Him in our praise and devotional times will we learn to recognize His voice from among the many. That is where the crucible of faith is purified and strengthened for what comes next.
You can be sure God has us in the palm of His hand. Whether we deal with sickness, failure, broken relationships or anything else, put your hand in the hand of the Lord and know He is with us and for us. Thanks be to God!
