It was about Peter Pan who had grown up, married, had children, and a big job. In the process of growing up he had forgotten he was Peter Pan. At the same time, he was so consumed by work, that he wasn’t attentive to his wife or children. When Hook kidnapped his kids, Peter Pan had to return to Neverland and remember who he was, fight Captain Hook and the rest of the pirates, and then rescue his children. In the movie, Captain Hook was not mean to the children, but tried to convince them to hate their father because he was a, “bad daddy.” Hook paid a great deal of attention to the young son, to the point of playing a baseball game where the young son could hit the game-winning homerun. When the son stood up to the plate to bat, some of Hook’s pirates held up words that were supposed to spell, “Homerun.” However, they made a mistake, and the letters read, “Run Home.” The little boy saw the message and realized that he didn’t need to be with these pirates and that he should, “Run home.” That was my favorite part of the movie, when the boy realized that he had a real home, and he belonged there. I never grew tired of watching that part of the movie!
As we approach Resurrection Sunday, I think of how Jesus loves the entire world, all of us. I try to grasp what Jesus has done for us upon the Cross, how He made a way for us to, “Run Home,” from a world filled with sin and pain to a Home that is filled with love and acceptance. No matter how the things of world try to deceive us and tell us we are having a good time while we are gripped by death, the Bible tells us different. The Bible tells us that we are in sin, and the only way out of sin is through Jesus Christ. The world will tell you that God is mean, indifferent, or cruel. The Bible tells you that God is love. The world will tell you there is no heaven or hell. The Bible tells you that both exist. The world will tell you just to live better and to “turn over a new leaf,” but the Bible tells you that you must be born again. The question is, who are you going to listen to concerning the direction your life, in time and eternity?
When Jesus rose from the grave on the third day, He appeared to some of His disciples and said, “Rejoice! So they came and held Him by the feet and worshipped Him. Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.’” (Matthew 28:9,10) Easter is the perfect time to see God for who He is, and to, “Run Home,” into the arms of a loving Savior who has made the way from earth to heaven possible, and can remove our sin and burdens. To that I say, “Rejoice!” Run home, it’s not too late!
Remember, don’t give in to sin. Think about it!
