LINCOLNTON––With the State-mandated virus-related restrictions at last winding down, many are breathing a sigh of relief.

And despite the difficulties of these restrictions, Christian Ministry of Lincoln County has kept on keeping on. According to executive director Mitzi Williams, the local charitable organization was very busy between March 2 and April 30. During this time, as Williams said Thursday, the ministry gave out 36,843 meals.

“This includes food boxes, soup kitchen meals and plates taken to shut-ins,” she said. “It also includes food given to the schools to give out for Easter Sunday. We have helped the elderly that could not find food, individuals that found themselves suddenly unemployed and homeless individuals that still needed a place to shower. We have shouted from the rooftops what foods we needed, and the community did not let us down.”

Williams continued that she and her volunteers are very happy to be able to start up LINC Meals again. This vital service delivers meals to local elderly and shut-in residents. She added that volunteers are still needed for this program. If you can help, e-mail Mimi Rhyne at

Business Blitz,” ongoing restrictions and more

In other news, during a normal year, this would be the time for the ministry’s annual “Business Blitz” fundraiser to start up, as Williams noted.

“Last year,” she said, “this fundraiser brought in over $20,000. It will not happen this year. We, along with the community, want to support our businesses as they work to reopen and stay open. We hope to have our golf tournament Aug. 8 at Lincoln Country Club. I hope it will happen. We are going to plan for it.

“The ministry will continue to operate as it has been,” she added. “We are limiting people on site and giving out food and financial help only. People can take showers here.”

“Our current needs are laundry detergent, bar soap, crackers and canned meats,” Williams continued. “Please pray for the ministry, for our clients, our volunteers and our staff. Pray that we will continue to find places to purchase food. Pray that we can keep the ministry clean and safe.”
