Christian Ministry's Urgent Appeal For LINC Meals

Lincoln Herald Staff

LINCOLNTON––Christian Ministry’s LINC Meals program provides a vital service to many.

The home-delivered food program serves local elderly and shut-in residents by providing them hot meals, brought right to their doors. Maybe your grandparents or other loved ones benefit from this very program.

But it needs your help. Christian Ministry LINC Meals Co-ordinator Mimi Rhyne said Thursday that there is an urgent need for volunteer delivery drivers and food packers.

“If you are a past volunteer or just a friend of Christian Ministry, I am asking that you consider helping us out again,” said Rhyne. “If you are a current volunteer and can help out with an extra day, that would be great! And if you are either one and know of someone in your circle of friends that could volunteer and help out, please put them in touch with me.”

She added that those interested may call the Christian Ministry office at (704) 732-0383 or (704) 732-2691 or send your e-mail queries to

“I just need to honestly tell you that I have been the LINC co-ordinator for three years,” said Rhyne, “and I have never had this many openings for volunteers. And I hope that there is some way you or someone you know can help us. Thank you in advance!”

Mitzi Williams, Christian Ministry’s executive director, also spoke about this.

“During this COVID-19 crisis, many people have stepped up to help us at Christian Ministry in many ways,” said Williams, “particularly in helping to deliver meals through our LINC program. We are grateful for each person that stepped in to help out, many of you for just a few weeks, and many others for the summer. However, we have a lot of permanent spots that need to be filled. We have spots available for any day of the week, and we also need packers for Monday, Thursday and Friday.”

Christian Ministry of Lincoln County is located at 230 E. Water St. in downtown Lincolnton. Call (704) 732-2691 or (704) 732-0383 for more information on upcoming efforts and volunteer opportunities for individuals and church and business groups.
