LINCOLNTON––Christian Ministry continues to grapple with State-mandated virus-related restrictions.
That’s the word this week from Mitzi Williams. The executive director of Christian Ministry of Lincoln County, Williams spoke further about how the restrictions are continuing to affect her organization.
“July starts our fifth month living with COVID-19 (corona virus disease, 2019),” she said. “Life at the ministry has been a rollercoaster, as it has been everywhere. The support from the community continues to be steadfast. Grocery stores never stopped donating food, even when they had a hard time keeping their own shelves stocked. Different companies sent donations, even when their future looked uncertain.
“However,” she added, “the most comforting thing that has happened is that our member churches have not missed a step in their ongoing support. As churches re-think how to worship together, they continue to support the ministry with financial and food donations. Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to help the ministry meet the needs of the community.”
In other news, Williams reminded the public that starting this Saturday, July 11, Christian Ministry will be working in partnership with McKendree United Methodist Church. Christian Ministry will open a satellite office at the church, located at 3537 N. Maiden Hwy. just outside Lincolnton. The current schedule is to be open on the second Saturday and third Thursday of each month. Clients will be able to get food and financial assistance. The same emergency service guidelines that are followed at the ministry will be followed at McKendree.
Christian Ministry of Lincoln County is located at 230 E. Water St. in downtown Lincolnton. Call (704) 732-2691 or (704) 732-0383 for more information on upcoming efforts and volunteer opportunities for individuals and church and business groups.
