Christian Ministry Preparing Christmas Efforts

LINCOLNTON––Christian Ministry is gearing up right now for its annual Christmas efforts.

That’s the word Thursday from its executive director, Mitzi Williams.

“Can you believe it?” she rhetorically asked. “It’s almost time for us to start thinking about ‘Christmas Angels.’ How many will your church or business need this year? I know 2021 has been a very exhausting year, in terms of illness and job loss. But let’s remember all those little ones who are still counting on Christmas to lift them up. The ‘Christmas Angel’ and ‘Adopt a Christmas Food Item’ flyer will be coming to your mailbox soon.”

In other news, Williams reminded the public of Christian Ministry’s upcoming food distributions at local churches. They will be held Oct. 2 at Pisgah Methodist Church, Oct. 23 at St. Dorothy’s Catholic Church and Nov. 6 at Daniels Lutheran Church.

And the ministry continues to need laundry soap and small bottles of shampoo, such as hotels have. These items, which are not covered by food stamps, benefit the ministry’s homeless clients.

LINC Meals delivers hot meals to local elderly and shut-in residents. Williams said drivers are needed for the second West Lincoln-area route on the second Thursday of each month and the second Boger City-area route on the first Friday of each month.

“Training will be provided,” she added.

Talking of food, Williams continued that the ministry is in need of volunteers to drive its trucks to pick up donations at local grocery stores.

“You don’t have to have a CDL (commercial driver’s licence) in order to drive our box truck,” she said. “However, bus driver and CDL skills are helpful in knowing how to drive a box truck that requires using mirrors for navigation.”
