Blessings Are Not Rewards
God is neither Santa Claus nor a vending machine.  He neither grants us everything we want nor can we earn His blessing.  Job was a godly man; yet multiple tragedies befell him.  In the end he came to realize more fully that God is God--He, and not we, is in control.  He couldn't earn God's blessings and neither can we.
